"English Turn of the Century 1900s Carved Stone Statue of Venus Sitting on a Rock XX47"
An English Turn of the Century carved stone statue from the early 20th century depicting the Greco Roman goddess Venus on a tall pedestal. Created in England during the Turn of the Century which saw the transition between the 19th to the 20th, this statue features a depiction of a Classical theme inspired by the Greco Roman mythology. Venus is sitting on a rock, in a position that leads us to believe she is perhaps drying herself after having bathed in the water. Her body showcases a nice torsion and she is looking at her right foot. Her face is young and beautiful, her hair disappears in a thin cloth. The statue is raised on a tall cylindrical pedestal with large fluted motifs and carved accents. Boasting a nicely worn patina revealing its age and life spent outdoors, this English Turn of the Century carved statue of Venus circa 1900 will make for a lovely addition to any garden! Circa 1900.
