The present fragment, once forming part of a larger altarpiece, is rigorously carved in high relief. The figure of Christ rests on the ground amid standing attendants in mourning. The hovering form of Christ almost floats above the ground, intimating his future resurrection.
Displayed against a later cream velvet backing altogether mounted upon a modern oak plinth.
