"19th Century Victorian Period Black Painted Tole Coal Scuttle"
A stunning 19th century black painted octagonal English tole coal hod or scuttle with hinged lid. The entire box is painted in a glossy black and the top and front are decorated with hand painted floral motifs within a raised border with fine gold hand painted detailing on the outer perimeter. The sides and base of the box also have hand painted gilt stencilling that accent the borders, a pair of scrolled handles, all standing on an octagonal shaped pedestal base.
